EV battery supplier Akasol is developing a new headquarters facility in southwest Darmstadt, Germany to enable further growth of the company expected in the coming years.
The site will comprise a four-story administration building with a gross floor area of 7,000 sq m, and a production, assembly and warehouse area with have a gross floor space of 15,000 sq m to handle series and small batch production. In addition, prototype development, service workshops, warehouse and a testing and inspection centre for battery system development will be accommodated.
The new production facility is four times the current site in Langen, which will be retained.
“The extremely dynamic growth of Akasol required a massive expansion of office and production capacity,” says Sven Schulz, CEO, Akasol . “It is important that we strengthen our development site with a new state-of-the-art test and inspection centre that meets all the needs of our battery systems developers.
“Our continuous investments in research and development, as well as the bundling and expansion of testing and inspection capacities, have become necessary due to the very good order situation of our company.”
Construction is scheduled to begin this month with completion expected in mid 2020.
