Singapore authority assesses three-door double-decks

Singapore authority assesses three-door double-decks Masats doors on MAN concept bus for Singapore.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority is assessing a pair of double-decks with two staircases and three doors, one developed by ADL and the other with an MAN chassis and Malaysian body from Gemilang. The vehicles were presented at the Singapore Bus Carnival and the MAN bus features doors from Masats as well as new features for the Singapore market including USB ports for each passenger, voice information displays and systems to detect driver fatigue.

The additional exit door is designed to improve passenger flow and the LTA is considering intrducing the concept in late 2018/early 2019.

Masats participated in the development of the MAN Lion’s City DDL, for which a three-door concept was chosen with one wide front sliding door and two sliding doors near the middle of the vehicle. The third door is exclusively designed for upper-deck passengers, allowing faster exits without interferences from passengers leaving the lower deck.
