Longest ever Wrightbus single-decks for East Coast Buses
East Coast Buses has just invested more than £3million in fifteen new Volvo/Wrightbus single-deck vehicles featuring Lothian Buses’ bespoke design based on the new standardised interior trim.
“We are delighted to once again be working in partnership with Wrightbus to offer our customers a unique, high quality, bespoke vehicle, which has been specifically designed with their comfort and safety in mind,” says Richard Hall, managing director, Lothian Buses.
“From concept to reality, every element of these vehicles has been reviewed in detail to ensure that our customers are able to travel in a warm and comfortable environment. Our investment in these vehicles shows our continued commitment to the local community, building on our promise to provide the county with a first class service.”
The new Eclipse 3 buses are based on Volvo B8RLE chassis and are fitted with USB charging points, upgraded heating systems, as well as five glass roof panels, specially coated in UV protection to create a brighter saloon area. Two-tone wood-effect flooring and improved lighting with the introduction of spot lights and centre roof strip lighting adds a ‘mild green’ colouring to the interior. The vehicles also feature under seat ‘warm white’ lighting and lighting at the entrance to help customers board and alight.
These two-axle single-door vehicles have two-tier luggage racks and are the first Wrightbus single decks to feature the newly designed front, and at 13.2m long they are also the longest single-deck vehicles they have ever produced. The specification accommodates 40-seated passengers with an overall capacity of 79.
“We are delighted to now be delivering this important launch order of Eclipse 3 single deck buses to Lothian Buses,” says Sam McLaren, commercial director, Wrightbus. “Lothian Buses are well recognised as an innovative bus operator and it is gives our company great pleasure to know that they have been quick to endorse the new look product and Wrightbus as a long term business partner.”
The buses include Lazzerini GTS 3600 seats accented in grey leather to compliment the East Coast Buses’ moquette used in the inner seat panels, and tiered theatre seating.
Two Hanover multi-media screens are also included, one of which will display next stop information, while the other will feature news feeds and twitter updates.
