New Ticketer system for Diamond Bus

Diamond Bus is launching a new ticketing system later this month across its West Midlands and Worcestershire network using new equipment from Ticketer. The investment means that Diamond can now offer passengers contactless payment with any ticket up to the value of £30 able to be purchased via a contactless payment bank card, making it the first bus operator in the West Midlands region to offer this facility. As well as offering the customer a more convenient way to pay, Diamond says the new technology will speed up bus journey times.

The new ticket machines are also equipped with tracking and communications including real-time information feeds reported back to depot traffic offices. 

“We will be able to report delays much more accurately to customers and liaise easily with drivers to identify and rectify problems much more quickly,” says a Diamond Bus spokesperson. “We are progressing partnerships with Transport for West Midlands to report our RTI data to their roadside infrastructure and we hope in the near future to also be able to pass on real time information feeds directly to passengers through the use of our mobile app and website.
