Arriva places £70million order
Wright Group managing director Mark Nodder describes the Gemini 2 order as “a significant endorsement” for the company’s new double-decker.
Alexander Dennis will supply 190 buses worth around £26million. These will comprise 117 Enviro200 midibuses, 30 Enviro300 single-deckers and 43 Enviro400 double-deckers, and follow an existing order for 239 buses.
Optare will supply 53 buses in its £6million share of the order. This includes 30 Solos at 9.5m length with 17 of the SlimLine version for North Wales. Arriva Midlands is taking 10 Versas following a successful evaluation of the model over the last year and Arriva Yorkshire will receive 13 Tempos which will be fitted with guide wheels for use on the Leeds guided busway.
Arriva’s group technical services director, Mark Bowd, says of the total investment: “This is a further major investment by Arriva which demonstrates the company’s commitment to further improving the reliability and standards of our bus services.
“We are continuing our work with a range of suppliers to ensure we have the flexibility to provide even better services for customers, with buses which cater to their needs.”
